The Do Diligence® suite of source metrics analysis tools produces nearly 40 metrics in six major categories.
These objective metrics address the following key software attributes: coding style, design, complexity, maintainability, and maturity.
Individual language metrics are normalized to the size of the code base, then compared to the Do Diligence® comparative database to produce ratings. Individual metric ratings are summarized by metric category. Then ratings for all categories are summarized to produce a consolidated rating for each software language being evaluated.
The Do Diligence® rating scale is 1 to 5, with 1 being poor, 3 average, and 5 outstanding.
Language, category, and individual metric ratings of below average or worse are considered code debt that should be remediated.
